Maysam Abedin

Director

Maysam is a transport economist who specialises in road reform, institutional development and public transport investments that enable economic growth and financial stability.   With 20 years of experience, he has worked in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the United Kingdom.
In the context of institutional reform, Maysam has established Road Authorities, Road Funds and Road Asset Management Systems that support the cost-effective provision of resilient road networks. Additionally, he has supported the establishment of Public Transport Authorities and Transport Operating Companies by developing business plans, financial models and regulatory frameworks that enable a competitive market for service delivery.
Maysam also develops demand forecasts, assesses the economic case, and conducts financial due diligence for investment projects in railways, trams, Bus Rapid Transit, e-bus, ferries, toll roads, road rehabilitation and border crossings. Working to secure the funding for projects that deliver real progress on economic productivity, shared prosperity, climate-resilience and improved livelihoods.

David Brenig-Jones

Director

David is a transport planner who specialises in urban transport, strategic transport connectivity and transport decarbonisation, with a focus on economic growth and poverty reduction. He has over 15 years’ experience working in Africa, Asia, Europe and the UK.
In the urban context David develops transport masterplans, public transport reform programs and Bus Rapid Transit concepts that improve access to jobs and opportunity, while promoting efficient private-sector operation and effective public management.
In the strategic context, he has planned resilient multi-modal networks for regional blocks that facilitate trade and growth, studied the nexus between transport, trade and food security, and developed practical pathways for transport decarbonisation that include e-mobility.
His approach is to collaborate locally to develop realistic solutions that overcome the true barriers for implementation. He is also a keen innovator in the use of data, data tools, modelling and storytelling to better engage stakeholders and decision-makers.

James Ainsworth-Evans

Principal Consultant

James is a Transport Economist who specializes in economic analysis of sustainable solutions for transport projects in the UK and internationally. He has over 9 years’ experience undertaking economic appraisal, analysis of road and rail urban transport projects, and climate resilience projects. In the UK, he has developed business cases for bus priority lane investments; demand responsive transport (DRT) services; and town regeneration plans.
James’ most recent projects include the impact assessment of climate adaptation solutions for road and rail infrastructure across Africa; and undertaking due diligence and feasibility studies of road rehabilitation and urban enhancement projects in Tajikistan and Moldova. He is also expert in demand forecasting and cashflow modelling for financial appraisal.
James has extensive project management experience for a variety of IFI and national government clients. He was Program Manager of the A+ rated Research for Community Access Partnership (ReCAP) programme, funded by UK FCDO.

Edin Begovic

Associate

Edin is a civil engineer who specialises in the management, procurement and implementation of internationally funded road and rail infrastructure projects. He has over 25 years of experience working across Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus.
Edin supports governments, road administrations and implementing agencies through the full project lifecycle – from feasibility and due diligence, through procurement and tender evaluation, to construction supervision and project close-out. He is well-versed in the procurement procedures and safeguard policies of the World Bank, ADB, EBRD and EIB.
He also advises on institutional and commercial reform in the road sector, including the introduction of Performance-Based Road Maintenance Contracts, the restructuring of state-owned road maintenance companies, and capacity building for road authorities. His approach emphasises pragmatic solutions grounded in an understanding of local capability, regulatory frameworks and the operational realities of works implementation.
Edin is a FIDIC Certified Contract Engineer and sits on the FIDIC President’s List of Dispute Adjudicators, as well as being an active member of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF). He supports clients with the resolution of construction contract disputes, emphasising proactive management and dispute avoidance through alternative resolution methods.

Robert Geddes

Associate

Rob is a civil engineer who specialises in rural infrastructure development, road asset management, and climate-resilient transport networks that enable inclusive growth. He has over 30 years’ experience working across Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
Rob supports governments, donors and NGOs with the design, implementation and evaluation of road improvement and maintenance programmes.  He also advises on the establishment of road sector institutions and provides training to build local capacity in road engineering and asset management.
Rob’s recent work includes supporting national governments with transport policy reform, advising on resilient infrastructure strategies to address climate risks, and promoting innovations in road maintenance practices.
Rob draws on earlier career experience in civil works supervision to develop pragmatic, context-appropriate solutions that respond to operational realities and capacity constraints.
